This article examines the impact of generative AI on competency management within organizations, focusing particularly on both technical and behavioral skills. Through tools such as ChatGPT and DALL·E, AI is reshaping professional practices and internal processes, influencing not only technical know-how but also soft skills such as creativity, collaboration, and adaptability. These behavioral skills, which are increasingly vital in AI-driven environments, call for more flexible and proactive talent management approaches. Generative AI enables more responsive skills management by identifying gaps and recommending targeted training programs through predictive analysis. This approach addresses emerging skill needs while optimizing internal organizational processes. However, this transformation also introduces several challenges, including equitable access to training, technological dependency, and change management. Companies must ensure fair access to digital tools and avoid excessive automation that could hinder the development of essential human capabilities. Ultimately, generative AI represents a significant opportunity for enhancing competency management by supporting employee adaptability. Nonetheless, organizations must invest in flexible, integrated, and human-centered management practices to fully leverage these technologies while preserving the soft skills that are fundamental to professional growth and fulfillment.
